Soya every day
- Soy and women
Soy, like many food plant products, contains polyphenols, which are anti-oxidant substances. The polyphenols in soy are isoflavones, with a limited hormonal-type activity, much lesser than those of oestrogens, which is why they are sometimes referred to as “phyto-oestrogens”.
In Asia, post-menopause women suffer less from sudden flushes than western women. Several factors could explain this phenomenon, and in particular traditional food, very rich in soy-based products. Indeed, some surveys suggest that the soy isoflavones may relieve some women suffering from sudden flushes.
